Fun and imaginative graphic design

For small businesses who want something a bit different

WHAT I DO

Print, branding and graphic design for fun and ambitious small businesses

For the last 13+ years I’ve been working with lovely small businesses, working across the board on all kinds of projects:

  • Magazines

  • Brochures

  • Branding

  • Posters, flyers and marketing materials

  • Icons

  • Folders and promotional packs

  • Menu suites

  • Packaging

  • Social media campaigns

  • Storyboarding

  • eBooks

  • Merchandise

And so much more!

All this variety has made me a super versatile designer, and, even if I’ve never done it before, I’m always happy to try my hand at new things.

“Laura takes the time to understand my vision and transforms it into stunning visuals that exceed my expectations. Her timely communication and ability to meet deadlines have made every collaboration smooth and enjoyable.

I highly recommend Paper Arcade to anyone needing top-notch graphic design work!”

MY DESIGN STYLE

Illustrative graphic design that stands out from the crowd

Illustration adds heaps of character to a project in a way that photography sometimes can’t. And in our hyper-digital, AI-crazy world, my style of illustration counteracts that with texture, tactility and depth.

It can be tricky to find someone who does both illustration and typography. But it’s my favourite thing to play with both, and the excitement of creating fun, quirky and interesting designs never leaves me.

Ways to work with me

  • Project-based

Retainers are best when you often find yourself with a handful of design tasks needing done but you don’t have the need for a full time graphic designer. Rather than hand off the design stuff to Dave in accounts, I can come in a set number of days per month to keep on top of your design list.

  • In-house Design Support

This is when I am your designer-for-a-day/week/month. I can hop in and hop out as and when you need to fill gaps, cover staff holidays, or as an extra pair of hands for a particularly chunky project. I can work in-house at your premises or remotely, whatever works best for you.

My skills, your industry

A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND

Certified computer and font geek since 1995

My first foray into graphic design was playing with KidPix on my neighbour’s old Macintosh. Shortly after my folks got our first family PC, I’ve been hooked on computers ever since. I loved making signs and pictures to put up around the house, before moving onto designing custom MySpace graphics and Bebo skins (the peak of social media!)

Basically, putting words and images together and making something useful and good looking is something I’ve loved doing for nearly 30 years.

We have really enjoyed working with Laura.

She is first and foremost creative and talented while being responsive and efficient – which is really valuable for the demands of our business.”

Marketing Manager, The Climbing Academy Group

I’d highly recommend working with Laura.

From our meeting on day one, I feel like she really took the time to understand the project and what I wanted from its design. She was lovely to deal with through the process and happy to accommodate changing ideas. The work she has produced is incredible.”
